Overview Exciting Opportunity: Part-Time Breast Surgeon at Salisbury VA Health Care System

The Salisbury VA Health Care System is seeking a

dedicated, part-time, board-certified Breast Surgeon

to join our highly esteemed team. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about breast cancer prevention and treatment. The VA provides an opportunity to develop a comprehensive approach to care for over 15,000 female veterans at this location, as well as the potential to contribute to the development of programs for VISN at a national level.

Administrative Duties

Attend staff meetings, maintain clear communication, and prepare briefs on adverse outcomes.

Oversee clinic operations, documentation, productivity, performance measures, quality, safety, and process improvements.

Clinical Duties

Deliver compassionate, effective patient care across all stages.

Apply biomedical, clinical, and social sciences to care and education.

Use scientific methods to enhance patient care.

Maintain professional relationships and strong communication.

Commit to continuous development, ethical practice, and diversity sensitivity.

Understand healthcare systems and apply knowledge to optimize care.

Education

Teach and mentor surgical residents, PA students, and medical students.

Demonstrate effective teaching and coordinate educational activities.

Engage in academic appointments if possible.

Identify significant research problems, execute precise research programs, and produce publishable results.

Requirements

U.S. Citizenship:

Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is impossible to recruit qualified citizens, in accordance with VA Policy.

Education:

A Doctor of Medicine degree or an equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine is required.

Licensure:

Current, complete, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state, territory, Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

Residency:

Completion of a residency program in an accredited core specialty.

Board Certification:

Board-certified or board-eligible.

Competitive Salary Range : $123,077-$400,000

Paid Time Off:

50–55 days of paid time off per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year, and possible 5 days paid CME).
