Job Description Pay: $50,000 - $60,000 per year.
The Older Adult Companion plays a vital role in providing compassionate support and assistance to elderly individuals, ensuring their comfort and well-being. This position involves engaging with clients to promote their independence while assisting with daily activities, personal care, and companionship. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in healthcare, particularly in settings that cater to older adults.
Duties
Provide companionship and emotional support to older adults, fostering a positive environment.
Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
Monitor and report any changes in clients' physical or mental health to appropriate healthcare professionals.
Facilitate social interactions and encourage participation in recreational activities.
Help with medication reminders and adherence to prescribed health regimens.
Maintain accurate records of client care and progress in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Collaborate with family members and healthcare providers to develop personalized care plans.
Support clients during hospital visits or medical appointments as needed.
Requirements
Hospital experience, particularly within Level I or Level II trauma centers.
Experience in acute care settings including ICU, PICU, or emergency medicine.
Background in hospital medicine, addiction counseling, social work, or behavioral health.
Familiarity with patient service and patient care protocols.
Understanding of physiology knowledge, patient assessment techniques, and medical terminology.
Experience with discharge planning, medical records management, intake processes, utilization management, diagnostic evaluation, case management for inpatient and outpatient settings.
Previous work in post-acute care environments or clinics is highly desirable.
Experience enhancing the quality of life for older adults by providing dedicated support tailored to their unique needs.
Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health, or Marriage and Family preferred.
Bilingual in Spanish required.
Ability to speak fluent Yiddish, Creole, or Russian preferred.
LCSW, LMFT, LMHC license or license eligible preferred.
Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required.
Web-based client data system experience preferred.
Valid Florida Driver’s License with proof of insurance and ability to travel within Miami-Dade County.
