Job Description Building Surveying Manager – East Anglia, Local Authority

£47,181 per annum

37 hours per week

Overview We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Building Surveying Manager to join a local authority in East Anglia. The successful candidate will lead a team of Chartered and technical professionals, delivering a high‑quality, customer‑focused building surveying service across housing assets.

Responsibilities

Manage a team of Building Surveyors and Technical Officers, overseeing allocation, programming, and quality assurance of all works.

Lead on complex capital and maintenance projects, ensuring delivery within time, cost, and quality parameters.

Oversee compliance with statutory regulations including Health & Safety, CDM, and Building Regulations.

Develop and implement service improvement initiatives and policy frameworks to drive best practice.

Manage major procurement projects, prepare specifications, and oversee tendering processes.

Monitor significant budgets and report to senior management on performance, risk, and programme delivery.

Act as professional lead in resolving disputes and customer complaints, ensuring continuous improvement.

Requirements

Degree or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying or a related field.

Chartered Membership (e.g. RICS, CIOB) or working towards.

Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and complex construction projects.

Strong working knowledge of construction legislation, H&S, and procurement processes.

Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.

Local authority or social housing experience desirable.
