Job Description Pipefitter - Deadhorse Fab Shop (Rotational) Prudhoe Bay, AK (PRU011L)
Position Summary Fab Shop and field work. Lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, maintains and assists welders in preparation of piping and pipeline systems and industrial processing piping. Field dimension verification and orthographic sketch development. Use of heavy industrial fabrication equipment.
Essential Job Functions
Select type and size of pipe and related materials according to drawings and job specifications
Inspect worksites to determine presence of obstructions and plan sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other crafts
Establish and verify field dimensions and sketches for shop and/or field fabrication.
Cut and bevel pipe using cutting torches, saws, threading machines and pipe cutting machine
Assemble and install a variety of valves and fittings
Prepare and fit pipe for welding by a certified pipe welder or join pipe and fittings by means of threading
Secure pipe to structures with clamps, brackets or hangers
Use, interpret and care for the tools and equipment commonly employed on an industrial project such as cutting torches, threading machines, grinder, beveling machines, round-up clamps, etc.
Fabricate, install, position, or connect components, parts, finished products, or instruments for testing purposes, including hydrotesting
Participate in toolbox talks, safety programs and safety meetings.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the ANSI, ASME, and PFI codes and standards
Advanced working knowledge of various piping system components such as valves and fittings
Knowledge of the functional operation and purpose of the various piping system components such as valves, fittings and expansion joints
Advanced working knowledge of the various sizes and grades of standard materials employed in an industrial plant such as bolts, gaskets, fittings and valves
Ability to read, interpret and determine dimensional information for drawings and specifications such as isometrics, orthographic, P&ID's, equipment arrangements, and plan views etc.
Advanced ability to measure accurately, layout work, cut, straighten, bevel, thread and fit pipe.
Basic knowledge of Pipefitters Bluebook
Ability to determine mitered fittings and rolling offsets
Advanced skills working with overhead cranes and rigging.
Ability to work with fabrication facility equipment including welding positioner, pallet jacks, band saws, shear, brake, plate roller, iron worker, split frame cutting saws, pipe band track torch.
A positive, collaborative and constructive working attitude with coworkers and supervision. Growth mindset.
Physical Demand/Work Environment
Must have ability to stand, walk on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, sit, squat, kneel, reach through low and high ranges and exhibit normal balance and coordination. These basic physical requirements are essential for safe performance of the job in harsh environments with exposure to very cold temperatures and while wearing arctic gear
Lift 40 lbs from floor to knuckles x 2 with a 12 second interval
Lift 40 lbs from floor to waist x 2 with a 12 second interval
Lift 40 lbs from floor to shoulders x 2 with a 12 second interval
Carry 40 lbs with two hands for 50 feet on level surface x 2 (Allow a 60 second rest break between carry tests.)
Slanted Ladder: Climb up and down 15 rungs x 2 for a total of 30 rungs, self-paced but continuous.
Stairs: Climb up and down 15 steps x 5 for a total of 75 steps. Self-paced. (Allow a 60 second rest break after every set of climbing up and down 30 steps.)
Repetitive Kneel Test: Perform from standing, kneel on one knee, alternate from left to right knee, x 5 each knee
Repetitive Stoop Test: Perform from standing position, bend forward at waist as far as possible without bending the knees with hands reaching toward the floor x 5, self-paced, but continuous
Repetitive Squat Test: Perform a functional squat and stand x 5
Twist and Flex Test: Perform from standing alternate toe touches x 5 to each side to assess ability to twist and flex the trunk repetitively
Work 12 hour shifts with possibility of overtime for 3 weeks consecutively.

Qualifications
Three to Five (3-5) years’ experience in pipefitting in an industrial environment
High school/GED
Valid driver’s license including ability to be insured by Worley’s auto insurer
Petrochemical, oilfield or arctic experience is preferred
North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC). Worley can provide NSTC certification training if needed.
