Job Overview The Sterile Resource Technician (SRT) plays a critical role in supporting our surgical department by ensuring a clean, sterile, and well‑organized environment. Responsibilities include decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and proper storage of surgical instruments. The SRT also maintains sterilization equipment and restocks sterile supplies. Compensation The pay range for this position is
$28 – $40 per hour , based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Instrument Processing
Decontaminate, clean, assemble, wrap, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
Conduct biological and chemical monitoring to verify sterilization.
Operate and maintain sterilization systems (e.g., steam, EO, H₂O₂).
Equipment Maintenance & Stocking
Inspect instruments and replace any damaged items.
Perform routine maintenance on sterilization equipment.
Stock and organize operating room cabinets with sterile supplies.
Monitor inventory levels and request restocking as needed.
Compliance & Safety
Follow all infection control, OSHA, and clinic safety protocols.
Maintain a sterile and organized work environment.
Properly use PPE and sterilants.
Qualifications Experience and Certification Requirements
2+ years of experience in a clinical, hospital, or veterinary environment.
Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician certification required.
Technical Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and general office equipment.
Abilities
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks independently.
Effective communication and teamwork in a fast‑paced environment.
Physical Requirements
Lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
Stand for extended periods and frequently bend at the waist.
Work in a fast‑paced environment with a focus on safety.
