Program Overview:
In 2026, the United States will mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence—our nation’s semi-quincentennial. At the same time, Colorado will mark the 150th anniversary of our entrance into the Union—our state’s sesquicentennial. As the Centennial State, Colorado is the only one who will observe twin anniversaries.
The America 250 - Colorado 150 Commission is charged with guiding Colorado’s Sesquisemiquincentennial in ways that empower every Coloradan to participate. The Commission consists of 21 members , representing Colorado’s diverse communities and several state agencies, and who work closely with members of an Advisory Panel representing communities throughout the state. The Commission was created by the Colorado General Assembly with the support of Governor Jared Polis. The Commission is housed within History Colorado and is supported by a Program Director.
The Program Coordinator will support the work of the Program Director by facilitating efforts to engage all Coloradans in these commemorations. The Program Coordinator will report to the America 250 - Colorado 150 Program Director, and will play an important role in supporting statewide commemorative efforts through June 2027.
Position Summary

The America 250 - Colorado 150 Program Coordinator will provide essential administrative, communications, and programmatic support to the Program Director. This role plays a key part in connecting communities, coordinating logistics, supporting stakeholders, and promoting participation in Colorado’s twin anniversaries. This is a public-facing position that requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple projects, and a commitment to building inclusive and meaningful relationships across the state.
The Program Coordinator will support the work of the Commission’s Program Director, working closely in partnership with the Director to meet the needs of the Commission and the regional Advisory Panel.
This position requires a positive attitude, good judgment, a high level of organization, initiative, and good problem-solving skills.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
Conduct outreach and build relationships with Colorado institutions, organizations, and communities to support Commission goals and objectives Schedule and coordinate meetings, travel, and reimbursements for Commissioners and Program Director Respond to public inquiries about the Commission Prepare meeting materials including agendas, minutes, weekly updates, and other relevant communication for the Commission and its subcommittees Manage and update the America 250 - Colorado 150 Commission website (Drupal platform) ensuring accessibility and timely content Track the development of signature initiatives and provide progress reports Support regional Advisory Panel members and facilitate connections between local groups, Advisory Panel, and the Commission Assist with the management of the Commission budget, with direction from the Program Director, History Colorado Accounting staff, and Commission Finance Subcommittee May assist with volunteer coordination and engagement Other administrative duties as requested/required by the Program Director
