QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent
At least two years of programming experience with an emphasis on youth activities and working with children
Possess verifiable leadership and management skills
Must be able to supervise, provide direction, and mentor staff
Detail-oriented
Must be motivated, a self-starter, and a team player
Ability to organize and lead group activities
Ability to work under pressure
Working knowledge of computers and MS Office software
Good communication & organizational skills
Must be a minimum of 21 to drive a Salvation Army vehicle (7 passenger car, 14 and/or 24 passenger bus)
Must have and retain a valid Arizona Driver’s License
Successful background clearance
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise and direct after-school program/ summer day camp staff
Plan and implement youth programming, including but not limited to Troops, Youth Night, Teen Night, Encore
Develop strategies for youth outreach ministries such as VBS, Summer Day Camp
Promote and register participants for regional, divisional, and territorial youth camps/events
Recruit and supervise volunteers for youth programs
Create and implement weekly schedules promoting physical, educational, social, and spiritual development
Attend Advisory Council meetings to contribute to youth ministry strategies
Assist with budgeting for youth programs
Maintain contact with parents of participants as needed
Keep incident/behavioral reports and submit to Corps Officers
Ensure all staff complete Child Safety Training “Protecting the Mission” (PTM)
Maintain accurate records and statistics for students, staff, and youth programs
Create and distribute flyers and information for youth programs timely
Maintain forms related to After School/Summer Day Camp Programs
Assist with seasonal activities and special events
Pick up and drop off children as necessary
Conduct business professionally
Attend staff meetings
Organize and lead weekly meetings with Youth Program Staff, keeping minutes
Assist with planning and executing special projects such as community fairs, VBS, and promotional events
Perform other duties as assigned by the Corps Officer
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must perform essential duties with or without accommodations. Reasonable modifications will be considered. The role involves walking, standing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally. Vision and communication abilities include close and distance vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Must operate phones and computers and understand written information.
