Shift will be days/evenings in a rotation and will include some weekend and weekday holiday responsibilities. Job Summary

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) develops, implements, and evaluates a program of specialized cardiovascular health care. The APP promotes a collaborative relationship among various health care professionals toward continuity of patient care and efficient use of resources. The APP serves as a role model for professional practice in managing cardiovascular patients. In accordance with Massachusetts state regulations and MGH policies for Advanced Practice Providers (NP/PA), and under the supervision of the Director of Advanced Practice Providers and the Medical Director for Interventional Cardiology, the APP provides direct care to patients in a high-volume inpatient setting. They admit, discharge, and develop, implement, and evaluate specialized healthcare programs for cardiovascular disease patients. The APP will be involved in direct patient care and education, especially for patients undergoing diagnostic and invasive procedures in a cardiac catheterization lab. The APP will be the primary clinical responding clinician for Ellison 11 inpatient cardiology patients, managing patients with conditions like heart failure and valvular heart disease, including procedures such as TAVR, Mitral Clip, and tricuspid valve repair, in collaboration with cardiologists or hospitalists. Responsibilities include daily management, medication ordering, testing, and assessments, as well as coordinating testing or referrals and ordering diagnostic and interventional procedures. Qualifications

Universal Duties and Responsibilities: Provide direct care to a specific patient population in collaboration with physicians. Perform and document patient histories and physical examinations. Use advanced knowledge to identify and solve complex patient care problems. Follow and manage patient care plans in collaboration with MDs. Perform delegated medical tasks according to practice guidelines. Collaborate with staff and physicians to develop comprehensive care plans and coordinate resources. Write orders following current guidelines. Practice in accordance with practitioner guidelines, state, and hospital regulations. Prescribe medications per guidelines developed with supervising physicians. Scope of Prescriptive Practice: Prescribe Schedule II-VI medications following guidelines with supervising physicians. Maintain current license from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Division of Drugs and Drugs. Possess a DEA certificate for prescribing controlled substances. Monitor patient outcomes according to care standards. Facilitate patient flow and resource use through interdepartmental collaboration. Serve as a resource and participate in educational programs for staff. Maintain professional credentials and participate in quality initiatives. Education: Master's Degree in Nursing required. Experience in lieu of a degree is not accepted. Licenses and Credentials: RN license, NP/ARNP license in Massachusetts preferred. Experience as a nurse practitioner (0-1 year preferred). Skills include history-taking, quality control, emergency response, guideline application, and effective communication. Additional Details: Onsite at 80 Blossom Street, 40 hours/week, day shift, salary range $120,390.40 - $170,456.00/year.
