Job Summary The Network Engineer is responsible for the day‑to‑day operations of the organization’s core voice and data networks, including network technology evaluations, protocol analysis, configuration and research, complex troubleshooting, and special network projects. The role involves enterprise network planning, high‑level troubleshooting, security, system administration, and may include leading small teams.

Key Responsibilities

Operate and maintain core voice and data network infrastructure.

Evaluate and compare new network technologies; conduct testing and develop implementation guidelines.

Design, review, and deploy network solutions, including routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS), IP protocols (IPv4, IPv6), NAT, multicast, and VPN technologies.

Manage Cisco Catalyst, Cisco Access, Cisco Firepower, Palo Alto Firewalls, and Cisco Nexus switches.

Provide subject‑matter expertise on that product area, serving as a resource to senior analysts in problem solving and design.

Develop RFPs, contracts, and serve as the expert in the product area.

Consult with clients and vendors to determine future network requirements, costs, and design additions.

Lead or mentor within the work unit as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree.

3+ years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and in‑depth experience in large‑scale network design, implementation, and analysis.

Strong Cisco networking experience.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience

In‑depth knowledge of network architecture, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS), IPv4, IPv6, NAT, multicast.

Experience with VPN technologies (AnyConnect, IPSEC VPN).

Deployment and management of Cisco Catalyst, Cisco Access Switches, Cisco Firepower, Palo Alto Firewalls, and Cisco Nexus(9K) switches.

Knowledge of Cisco IOS, CatOS, ASA OS, and NX‑OS.

Experience configuring advanced service features of Cisco ASR and Cisco ISE for identity services and 802.1X.

Certifications

CCIE or equivalent certificate and/or experience (preferred).
