Position Senior Research Engineer, full‑time, on‑site
Location: Chamblee, GA
About the Role Binergy Scientific is a top innovator in the field of electrochemistry, material science, energy storage, and biotechnology. We develop cutting‑edge electrochemical power sources, innovative materials, solutions for hypersonic systems, and biosensors, focusing on emerging defense applications and advanced systems. Our work ranges from initial concepts up to demonstration of field‑able prototypes covering TRL 1 to 9.
Responsibilities
Computational modeling and simulation with focus on heat transfer analyses, CFD, and FEA.
Material development and characterization.
Mechanical design, characterization, and testing.
Electrochemical materials testing.
Generating innovative ideas and solutions, preparation of compelling grant proposals.
Implementation of previously developed test methods and processes, investigation of improvements, optimization, experimental validation, and documentation of new/refined design and performance.
Preparation of technical reports and presentations.
Contribution to commercialization efforts.
Opportunity to grow and lead a dedicated R&D area.
Required Skills/Experience
PhD in mechanical engineering, material science, chemistry, electrochemistry, or related engineering disciplines.
Extensive experience with computational modeling (preferably ANSYS).
Heat transfer analyses, thermal modeling, thermal protection, and thermal system design.
Experience with CFD and FEA simulation.
Innovation focused with a trackable publication list and achievements.
Hands‑on experience in a chemical or material science laboratory.
Trackable experience with mechanical design.
Material testing and characterization.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast‑paced work environment.
U.S. citizenship required due to DoD funding.
Desired Skills/Experience
Experience in thermal batteries, batteries, fuel cells, supercapacitors, or biosensors.
Experience with TABS computational model.
Experience with Loci‑CHEM and FUN3D computational models.
Hands‑on experience with SEM, XRD, XPS, TGA, DSC, and other analytical methods.
Experience with digital control and automation.
Prior experience with CNC machining.
Skills building experimental setups, data acquisition, and data processing systems.
Practical experience designing mechanical systems and parts.
