Ambulatory/Primary Care (Outpatient CBOC) RN
Location:
Miami VA Healthcare System (including 7 Community-Based Outpatient Clinics)
Period of Performance:
03/12/2025 – 03/11/2030
Shift Schedule:
8:00am-4:30pm
Position Description:
The Primary Care Registered Nurse (RN) delivers high‑quality, patient‑centered care across diverse clinical settings, including Primary Care/Patient Aligned Care Teams (PACT), Medical Specialty Clinics, Cardiac Catheterization/Electrophysiology Laboratory (CCL), and Gastroenterology (GI) services. This role supports Veterans in a multidisciplinary outpatient environment by combining clinical expertise, care coordination, patient education, and procedural assistance.
Primary Responsibilities
Check‑in patients and provide disease management
Scrub appointments and increase patient access through MyHealthyVet / secure message responses
Collaborate with community care partners
Conduct patient assessments, medication administration, and IV therapy
Coordinate interdisciplinary team collaboration, telemetry monitoring, admissions, discharges, and internal/external transfers
Delegate tasks to assistive personnel
Document in electronic medical records and manage patient transport
Perform emergency response procedures
Minimum Qualifications
BLS certification and at least two (2) years of inpatient experience in care coordination for Primary Care RN
ACLS and BLS certification, and at least three (3) years of experience in an outpatient setting (e.g., telemetry and acute care) for Medical Specialty RN
Unrestricted nursing license to practice in one of the United States States, Territories, or Commonwealths, or the District of Columbia
