Research Nurse Lead, RN Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago is seeking an experienced Research Nurse Lead to provide family‑centered care and advance clinical research activities. The role focuses on integrating research protocols with patient care, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the hospital’s commitment to pediatric excellence.

Job Description The Research Nurse Lead will manage clinical research activities, mentor staff, coordinate study implementation, and oversee data integrity and regulatory reporting. The position aligns with the Magnet® Model and focuses on safeguarding research participants while fostering innovation and teamwork.

Essential Job Duties

Manage clinical research activities in accordance with regulatory and institutional guidelines.

Mentor and train clinical research staff, serving as the primary contact on research matters.

Provide specialized education and oversight concerning research studies and coordinate study conduct within assigned areas.

Lead day‑to‑day operations of research study visits for one or more principal investigators or divisions.

Liaise and communicate with external agencies.

Develop quality‑control protocols to ensure participant safety.

Collaborate with the research team to address ethical and financial conflicts of interest.

Train, mentor, and oversee Responsibilities of Research Nurse, Research Professionals, and other research staff.

Prepare and review IRB documents and serve as IND submission specialist.

Lead multi‑center study liaison activities.

Apply clinical judgment in executing research nursing care consistent with Lurie Children’s policies, IRB‑approved protocols, and LIP orders.

Develop and oversee implementation strategies, SOPs, and recruitment goals for research protocols.

Serve as expert resource and trainer to multiple clinical and study teams.

Participate in research committees and workgroups.

Contribute to systems maintenance and improvement.

Encourage professional development and advanced research‑focused certifications.

Participate in data analysis, manuscript development, and dissemination activities.

Collaborate to develop innovations in research participant care delivery.

Identify self‑learning needs and create professional development opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications

Illinois RN licensure, active and in good standing.

BSN required; MSN preferred.

8+ years of clinical experience, including 5+ years of research experience and prior pediatric experience.

BLS certification required; GCP and CITI certifications strongly preferred.

(ACRP) and/or (SOCRA) certification preferred.

Experience in fetal health care and related specialties (e.g., Fetal Cardiology, Neonatology, Maternal Fetal Medicine).

Experience in multi‑grant writing and FDA/NIH regulations knowledge strongly preferred.

Understanding of budgeting, variance analysis, and hospital information systems such as RedCap.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Excellent leadership, collaboration, written and verbal communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to work autonomously and in a team, managing multiple projects under strict deadlines.

Education Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Required)

Pay Range $89,440.00 – $147,576.00 per year (salary)
