We are seeking a Field Application Engineer (FAE) for the Baltimore/Washington D.C. region to provide technical support to consulting engineers, end‑users, EPCs, and design‑build customers, ensuring ABB products are preferred in project specifications.
Reporting To Region Field Application Engineer Leader
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with consultants, end‑users, utilities and EPC/DBC engineers to define electrical project needs, supply design assistance, product selection, value engineering, budgeting, and to educate on ABB solutions for project acceptance.
Provide local technical support for MV/LV switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, transformers, motor control, power monitoring, UPS, ATS, PSG, generator circuit breakers, and related products.
Apply knowledge of short‑circuit, coordination and arc‑flash mitigation concepts, illustrating benefits with tools such as SKM or Easy Power.
Review and evaluate project specifications and end‑user requirements to develop electrical solutions, including one‑line diagrams, schematic diagrams, layout and equipment drawings, equipment specifications, and project budget pricing for low and medium voltage applications.
Qualifications
B.S. degree in engineering, preferably electrical, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the electrical distribution industry.
Fluent in English (speaking and writing).
Previous experience in field, plant or design engineering for electrical power systems at major oil and gas companies, electric utilities or industrial facilities.
Knowledge of industry codes and standards (ANSI, IEEE, NEC, NEMA, NFPA 70E, UL).
Valid work authorization that permits employment in the U.S.
Work Model Hybrid (limited overnight travel).
Compensation & Benefits Expected salary range: $98,700–$183,300 annually, plus a short‑term incentive plan/annual bonus.
