Job Description:

The Product Portfolio and Innovation Manager is a strategic role that leads the development of the multiyear product strategies for the health plan and other service offerings. This Strategist role will perform an assessment based on research and make a recommendation on what product offerings should be made and to whom to market them. The Product Portfolio and Innovation Manager is responsible for the creation of a multiyear product roadmap and is accountable for the strategies to package/promote a profitable market share throughout the product lifecycle.

Essential Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

Leads the development of multi‑year product strategies.

Creates and manages the multi‑year product roadmap that supports Line of Business strategies for Commercial, Retail Markets and SafetyNet.

Provides strategic leadership across portfolios of products.

Collaborates with cross‑functional business partners to collect and review new product ideas.

Leverages market, competitive, customer feedback and membership trend data to manage the product portfolio on an ongoing basis.

Develops data‑driven recommendations in partnership with key stakeholders including Sales, Product Management, Health Care Network Management, Operations and Finance.

Develops business case, competitive analysis, portfolio analysis, customer validation, product roadmap definition and go‑to‑market requirements.

Conducts financial modeling and forecasting to support the development of business cases.

Leverages internal market research resources to test and vet new product concepts and/or features.

Leads the identification, understanding and evaluation of advantages, potential opportunities and emerging trends.

Develops strategies to leverage clinical cost savings initiatives to reduce product costs and improve population health.

Formalizes a consistent strategic framework and approach for product development through which all ideas and opportunities are evaluated.

Determines success metrics for products and follows up with post‑mortem analysis of product misses, based on customer feedback.

Facilitates the process to collect and prioritize innovative ideas.

Collaborates with Product Development Managers to produce metrics to track product investments versus revenue.

Collaborates with Product Development Managers to align strategies to ensure competitive product positioning, profitability and responsiveness to community and market needs.

Works with Marketing to produce effective promotional campaigns, sales tools, presentations, ROI analysis, collateral, etc.

Works in partnership with the digital team to recommend prioritized digital capabilities and offerings and aligns with their respective markets and member segments.

Communicates frequently with leadership team and internal stakeholders at all levels to develop informed strategies and deliver closed‑loop evaluation of product performance.

Ensures the product strategies support the company’s overall strategy and mission, including financial and operational objectives.

Supports evolving business line portfolios to deliver membership targets and design a competitive portfolio.

Provides input to the strategic development of the benefit plans and process.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Health Planning, Business Administration, Marketing or related field with 4 years related experience. In lieu of a degree, 10 years related experience is required.

Demonstrated ability to think strategically and design strategic plans.

Ability to provide strategic direction on specific initiatives.

Strong analytical skills and use of data to drive decisions.

Strong communication skills.

Experience in product strategy and product development preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to independently travel across the regions as needed.
