Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (full‑time) Position Overview
The Temporary Staff Accountant supports the Finance Department by performing essential accounting and reporting functions to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. This position maintains general ledger accounts, prepares financial reports, supports grant accounting, and assists with audits and budgeting processes. The role is ideal for a detail‑oriented, deadline‑driven individual experienced in nonprofit or fund accounting. Responsibilities
Accounting & Reporting:
Prepare and post journal entries; reconcile general ledger accounts monthly. Manage and support Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and payroll‑related entries. Assist with internal financial statements and external audit schedules. Support monthly and annual close processes, ensuring accurate transaction recording. Maintain internal controls and compliance with GAAP and organizational policies.
Grant & Fund Management:
Track, reconcile, and report on grant‑related income and expenditures. Ensure proper use of grant funds in accordance with donor and funding requirements. Collaborate with program and development teams to ensure accurate reporting of restricted and unrestricted funds.
Budgeting & Analysis:
Assist with annual operating budget and monthly variance reporting. Provide analytical support for forecasts and management reports. Support long‑range planning and cost analysis initiatives.
Audit & Compliance:
Assist in preparing documentation for annual audits. Maintain financial records in compliance with GAAP and nonprofit reporting standards.
Other Duties:
Support process improvements and financial system updates. Perform other finance‑related duties as assigned by the Vice President of Finance and Administration.
Required Experience / Skills
3–5 years of progressive accounting experience. Strong understanding of GAAP and fund accounting principles. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. High attention to detail, accuracy, and professional integrity. Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience in nonprofit or fund accounting. Working knowledge of Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, or similar accounting software. Familiarity with grant reporting and fund management. Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. Benefits
