Surface & C5 Systems (S&C5S) designs and produces secure communication systems for mission‑critical operations. In this role you will apply security and cryptography expertise throughout the Systems Engineering process to develop and certify National Security systems on time, within budget, and with low residual risk. Essential Functions
• Apply security and cryptography expertise throughout the Systems Engineering cycle to develop and certify National Security systems. • Perform Concepts of Operations development, requirement decomposition/synthesis, architecture development and analysis, and security test planning and execution. • Serve as a subject‑matter expert in systems and equipment that protect classified National Security information, demonstrating a history of success in developing NSA‑Approved products. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (Master’s preferred). Minimum 6 years’ experience in Systems Engineering of Information Assurance systems/products. Deep understanding of the systems engineering process from concept through system test, including architecture development, functional analysis, requirements allocation and traceability, trade‑off studies, system synthesis, and system evaluation (integration & verification testing). Knowledge of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), TLS, and certificate/key management. Experience with Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). Active US Government security clearance (DOD SECRET minimum). Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time. Preferred Additional Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capacity to coordinate cross‑team efforts and resolve issues. Understanding of Key Management Systems, including Electronic Key Management System (EKMS) and Key Management Infrastructure (KMI). Proven track record in architecture, design, analysis, integration, and test of NSA‑Approved Type 1 Certified systems or equipment. Ability to serve as a single SME for Information Assurance, Security, and Cryptography. Exceptional security architecture development skills, including the ability to make complex design trade‑offs affecting system security. Experience negotiating security requirements with NSA Technical Evaluators and familiarity with NSA TSRD, IASRD, and FSDA processes. Experience developing NSA Security Evaluation Documents (SED) and CDRLs; multiple programs highly desirable. Working knowledge of Type 1, Suite A, Suite B, and commercial cryptographic algorithms (symmetric and asymmetric). Experience & Certifications
Experience with Cybersecurity and Risk Management Framework. Cybersecurity credential (e.g., CISSP). Compensation & Benefits
