About The Role The Buyer and Inventory Clerk is responsible for sourcing and purchasing raw materials, packaging supplies, and other goods required for food processing operations. This role also manages inventory levels, tracks stock movements, and ensures timely replenishment to support production schedules. The ideal candidate will have experience in procurement and inventory control within a food manufacturing or processing environment. This position typically works traditional hours, but occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required to successfully meet customers’ needs.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

Issue purchase orders and track deliveries to ensure timely receipt of goods.

Maintain relationships with vendors and evaluate supplier performance.

Monitor market trends and adjust purchasing strategies accordingly.

Perform physical counts of inventory to ensure accuracy against system records, including cycle counts and periodic full inventory audits.

Enter inventory data in computer systems, update stock levels, and maintain accurate records.

Verify quantities and report any damages, shortages or discrepancies to management.

Ensure proper stock rotation practices including first-in-first-out (FIFO) inventory management.

Monitor stock levels and place orders with buyers to maintain optimal inventory levels.

Maintain a clean and organized storage area, properly labeling and shelving products.

Perform basic quality checks on received inventory to ensure products meet standards.

Analyze inventory trends to identify potential issues and make informed ordering decisions.

Handles assignments of special projects as needed.

Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:

Proficient in Microsoft Office SW (Excel, Word, Power Point).

Familiarity with inventory management software and data entry systems.

Attention to Detail

Ability to perform basic math calculations for inventory counts and stock checks

Ability to maintain a clean and organized storage area and inventory records.

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ability to speak and communicate in English

Ability to speak and communicate in Spanish, a plus but not mandatory.

Forklift driving skill is a plus.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in supply chain, business, or food science is a plus.

2+ years of experience in purchasing and inventory control, preferably in food processing.

Knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, GMP).

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
