Job Summary We are seeking a strong leader who enjoys providing expertise and recommendations to clients. The Consultant will identify, plan, direct, and oversee all aspects of rehabilitation projects, with responsibility for multiple projects and for providing solutions, technical review, mentorship, and training to specialists, engineers, and other team members. The role serves as a technical liaison on matters pertaining to our field of practice.
Responsibilities Assessment
Conduct on‑site investigations and field reviews of existing buildings.
Review background documentation to determine original construction detailing and identify areas of risk such as water penetration, air leakage, and condensation.
Focus on critical aspects of structural engineering, building enclosures, commercial roof systems, waterproofing systems, exterior facades, and masonry.
Evaluate
Prepare reports and presentations documenting existing conditions and recommended repairs for defects.
Conduct peer reviews of findings for direct reports and peers.
Design
Participate in and/or lead meetings with owners, developers, architects, adjustors, and other consultants.
Coordinate with internal designers, drafters, engineers, and consultants to prepare construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
Conduct drawing, detail, and specification reviews.
Review shop drawings and submittals for compliance with project intent and building science engineering principles.
Oversee
Conduct on‑site quality assurance observations to review construction for conformance to contract documents, industry standards, manufacturer requirements, and best practices.
Prepare site visit reports.
Provide oversight of technicians and specialists performing field reviews, offering technical and directional advice.
Assume full managerial responsibility for scope, schedule, design, budget, quality, staff, execution, and overall project budgets.
Communication
Act as a trusted advisor to clients and prospective clients; own and develop client relationships.
Explore and capitalize on opportunities to enhance services or upsell existing clients and projects.
Proactively keep clients and stakeholders informed of project status and changes.
Performance
Perform project tracking and quality control, including regular status reviews versus plan and facilitate status and review meetings.
Manage time, budgets, resources, and schedules using department tools.
Ensure personal and direct‑report performance meets established goals.
Leadership
Manage direct reports, including training, mentoring, reviewing reports, setting schedules, conducting 1:1s, and leading annual reviews.
What You'll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Construction, or Architecture.
P.E./AIA or another relevant licensure.
Minimum 5 years of experience in the architecture, engineering, and/or construction industry.
Strong understanding of residential, commercial, or institutional building design and construction.
Knowledge of building enclosure design principles.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting complex technical information.
Technical competency and ability to build rapport with clients, contractors, and sub‑contractors.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam®, Revit, WUFI, THERM, or other design/modeling software (preferred).
Experience with project accounting and budget management.
Experience working for a contractor on structural, building envelope, commercial roofing, or waterproofing projects.
Flexible, responsive, and confident multi‑tasking skills.
Ability to work independently, handle multiple deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities.
Demonstrated commitment to quality, organization, meticulous attention to detail, and consistency in work product.
