Job title: Surgical Tech/PRN Pool/On-Call/UKHC Location: Lexington, KY Type: Staff, On Call Deadline to apply: 10/27/2025 Responsibilities

Pass surgical instruments in the operating room. Maintain a strict sterile field and assist/perform surgical case counts. Obtain necessary supplies/instruments and check for completeness and working order. Open room independently or with the circulating nurse depending on case complexity. Set up and maintain the sterile field until the patient exits the room. Maintain a neat and orderly sterile field during each case. Pass instruments to surgeons, anticipating needs. Monitor for breaks in sterile technique and take corrective action when identified. Perform counts in accordance with policy. Qualifications

Required Education: HS Required Related Experience: No experience required. Required License/Registration/Certification: Graduate from a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited program of surgical technology, or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with at least 10 years in a Surgical Technician/Technologist role, or certified as a surgical technologist or certified as a surgical technologist first assistant by the NBSTSA, or graduate of a military training program (validated with a DD214 or graduation certificate), or UKHC employee already in a Surgical Technician/Technologist role as of 09/17/2016 Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds daily; ability to stand, walk and sit for long periods; exposure to communicable diseases and hazards of radiation; potential injury from sharp instruments. Preferred Education/Experience: Graduate of school of surgical technology or one year of directly related OR experience as a surgical technician Work Details
