Nuclear Medicine Technologist
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for producing high quality diagnostic images of Nuclear Medicine studies. Special attention is given to radiation safety and regulations, including proper documentation and technique when working with patients and radioactive materials. The technologist also ensures patient safety by pre‑screening for contraindications and using aseptic injection techniques. Effective communication with customers and radiologists is essential, and the technologist may train new technologists or patient coordinators.
Responsibilities
Produce high quality diagnostic images of Nuclear Medicine studies, ensuring radiation safety and regulatory compliance.
Ensure patient safety through pre‑screening for contraindications and aseptic injection technique.
Communicate effectively with customers, radiologists, and other team members.
Train new technologists and/or patient coordinators as needed.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
NMTCB or ARRT (N) credential required.
State license, as required.
CPR certification required.
Valid state driver’s license applicable.
Ability to work at several locations and local travel may be required.
Strong customer service, organizational, and multi‑tasking skills.
Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
COVID‑19 vaccination is/may be a condition of employment.
Successful completion of a pre‑employment background check and drug screen required.
Physical Requirements
May be exposed to outside weather conditions during patient transport on a mobile unit.
Exposure to radioactive isotopes, ionizing radiation, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
More than 50% of the time: sit, stand, walk, repetitive hand and arm movements, communicate with patients.
Less than 50% of the time: stoop, kneel, crawl, climb, balance, carry and lift non‑ambulatory patients for transfer or exam.
