Job Summary Stanley Consultants seeks an experienced Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer to lead and deliver water, wastewater, and groundwater projects. Responsibilities include planning, design, construction, and project management of drinking water sources, distribution systems, storage facilities, wastewater systems, and water treatment projects from technical development through construction services.

Core Responsibilities

Lead team delivery of drinking water projects, including evaluation and detailed design of intake structures, surface and groundwater treatment plants, water reuse systems, storage, pumping, and transmission & distribution projects.

Prepare master planning reports and documentation required for grants and loans.

Represent Stanley Consultants in local professional organizations, presenting market‑specific papers and presentations.

Apply the One Water paradigm to projects.

Integrate smart water systems, process automation, and machine learning into overall water production and distribution design.

Use AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation and other applicable engineering design tools.

Collaborate with civil, mechanical, electrical, I&C, structural, and CAD disciplines to produce plans and specifications.

Assist in marketing business opportunities, responding to RFP/RFQs, and providing technical leadership during procurement and execution.

Develop and maintain long‑term client relationships.

Assist clients with permitting, property acquisition, and stakeholder engagement.

Consistently manage and deliver projects on time and within budget.

Mentor and manage staff.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering.

At least 10 years of relevant experience.

Professional Engineer (PE) license; Illinois PE or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.

Experience with water and wastewater systems in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and/or Wisconsin.

Regional expertise in one or more areas of water supply, treatment, storage, and/or distribution.

Active participation in professional organizations.

Strong verbal, written, computer, and organizational skills.

Excellent technical writing and client‑relationship skills.

Design team leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master of Science (MS) or PhD in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering.
