Job Description Manages the New Product Introduction (NPI) process from customer inquiry through production release, ensuring products are properly documented, quoted, and transitioned into manufacturing with complete accuracy and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Review and analyze customer product documentation, specifications, drawings, and BOMs to determine manufacturing feasibility and requirements
Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) in the ERP/MRP system, ensuring part numbers, quantities, and specifications are correct
Develop comprehensive work instructions, assembly drawings, and manufacturing documentation for production personnel
Prepare detailed cost estimates and quotes for new products, including labor hours, tooling requirements, and manufacturing overhead
Coordinate with customers to clarify product requirements, resolve technical questions, and manage documentation revisions
Lead NPI project activities from quotation through first article build, ensuring smooth handoff to production
Conduct Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews and provide feedback to customers on potential manufacturing challenges or cost-reduction opportunities
Verify component availability, identify long‑lead items, and work with procurement to establish supply chain readiness
Create and maintain Product Travelers, routing information, and process control documentation
Collaborate with Process Engineering to ensure production line readiness for new product launches
Support first article builds, pilot runs, and production ramp‑up activities
Maintain product file records and engineering change documentation throughout product lifecycle
Interface with Quality to establish inspection criteria and test requirements for new products
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience in electronics manufacturing
Proven experience in product engineering, NPI, or customer‑facing technical roles within electronics manufacturing services (EMS) or contract manufacturing
Strong ability to read and interpret electronic schematics, assembly drawings, technical specifications, and customer documentation
Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems for BOM creation and management
Experience with quoting processes and understanding of manufacturing cost drivers
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to interface professionally with customers, suppliers, and internal teams
Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple NPI projects simultaneously
Knowledge of electronic components, PCB assemblies, and electromechanical assembly techniques
Familiarity with quality systems such as IPC standards, ISO 9001, AS9100
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and Google Workspace; experience with project management tools
Problem‑solving mindset with ability to identify issues early and work collaboratively to develop solutions
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and adapt to changing customer requirements and project priorities
