Human Resources Consultant

Employers Council Overview Employers Council is seeking a Human Resources (HR) Consultant to join our team. We partner with employers to create exceptional, dynamic workplaces by offering a comprehensive set of services. The ideal HR Consultant brings practical, solution‑driven counseling expertise with a strong client‑service orientation, managing multiple priorities and navigating ambiguity in HR practices, processes, and procedures. Salary $93,300 per year. Essential Duties and Responsibilities HR Technical Expertise
Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR functions, and collaborate with attorneys as needed. Develop depth and proficiency in benefits administration and compliance, payroll administration and compliance, compensation strategy, and organizational development to provide members with consultative support. Research and draft articles and other content for internal and external publications focused on member HR expertise. Create and update member resources such as white papers, sample policies, agreements, templates, webinars, and blog articles.
Member Engagement
Stay informed of all Employers Council member services, training schedules, and offerings to relay information and enhance engagement. Establish and maintain positive relationships with members through in‑person and virtual meetings to reinforce membership benefits. Lead HR Business Partner meetings with new members, complete the New Member Assessment process, and follow up on identified service needs. Conduct additional assessments and strategy meetings throughout the membership year to strengthen engagement.
Member Service
Provide HR advice, counsel, and recommendations via phone, email, web‑based, or in‑person communication on a wide variety of HR topics. Engage members to understand immediate HR needs while proactively identifying opportunities for broader strategic support. Review and recommend changes to member documents such as employee handbooks, policy manuals, compensation plans, and performance appraisal forms. Manage assigned member work and track usage patterns to identify opportunities for service expansion or membership retention.
Training and Presentations
Prepare multimedia training materials and conduct interactive training classes at Employers Council offices or member locations using both in‑classroom and e‑learning methodologies. Review and update course offerings and materials as needed. Maintain competency in all HR courses offered by Employers Council. Propose and deliver presentations to community and industry groups on HR topics. Develop new classes and programs to meet member needs. Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment General office environment with opportunities to work remotely. Occasional lifting. Qualifications and Education Experience in multiple HR disciplines such as benefits, total rewards, staffing, onboarding, employee relations, compensation planning, HR policy, employee handbook reviews, organizational development, and performance management. Direct experience with benefits compliance and administration, payroll compliance and administration, and compensation planning. Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a closely related field, or equivalent 5–7 years of HR work experience. Preferred certifications: PHR, SPHR, GPHR, CEBS or willingness to obtain. Additional certifications from IFEBP, World at Work, or the American Payroll Association are desired. Demonstrated ability to speak and write clearly and persuasively, deliver HR content in various settings, analyze and solve complex problems, provide concrete advice, draft and review handbook policies, pay attention to detail, work independently and collaboratively, and maintain strong member relationships. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Must reside in Colorado within commuting distance of 1290 Broadway, Denver, CO.
