Onboard Systems Hoist & Winch, located in Anaheim, CA, is one of the world’s leading providers of Search & Rescue (SAR) and Human External Cargo (HEC) advanced mission equipment for civil, commercial, and military helicopters.

Position Overview Location: Anaheim, CA (Onsite)

The senior Mechanical Engineer will design solutions that meet aircraft requirements described under D‑178C, DO‑254, DO‑160 and/or MIL‑STD‑810 and is responsible for requirements analysis and decomposition, sub‑system and circuit design, simulation, and design verification test. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, integration, testing, and lifecycle support of mechanical systems critical to the operation and control of hoist & winch products for commercial and defense applications.

What You’ll Do

Design and develop mechanical systems for helicopter applications, including but not limited to flight hardware, test equipment improvement, failure investigation, material review board, customer and vendor support.

Generate and review engineering 3D models (CAD) and drawings.

Perform system‑level analysis using simulation tools (thermal, vibration, dynamic modeling).

Ensure compliance with relevant aerospace standards (DO‑160, MIL‑STD‑810, ARP4754A, etc.).

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate electrical and mechanical systems within aircraft platforms.

Write and review various engineering procedures/reports.

Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions for fielded systems as applicable.

Who You Are

Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR

Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum of 8 years’ experience OR

In absence of a degree, 15 years of relevant experience is required.

Familiarity with helicopter subsystems highly desirable.

Familiarity with certification processes, DO‑254/DO‑178C, DO‑160 and/or MIL‑STD‑810 compliance is desirable.

Hands‑on experience with electro‑mechanical systems such as motors and controllers or actuators, or hydraulic/electromechanical interface systems.

Understanding of 28VDC aircraft electrical systems, power distribution, and EMI/EMC requirements.
