The Role Fidelity Institutional Technology, Database Center of Excellence (COE) requires a highly competent and motivated Principal Database Engineer with strong technical skills to support challenging mission‑critical database platforms. Expertise & Skills You Bring
8+ years of experience in Oracle Database technologies with a proven understanding of the end‑to‑end database tech stack, including Exadata, and technical leadership for strategic projects.
3+ years of cloud experience.
8+ years of Oracle Database Administration / Performance Engineering / Replication Engineering across multiple platforms – Linux and engineered systems.
1+ year of database performance experience for Postgres, CockroachDB, Snowflake, Cassandra, MS SQL Server, Netezza, and others across Linux and engineered systems.
5+ years of experience in distributed replication technologies (Oracle GoldenGate, EDB Replication, etc.) – preferred.
Experience with cloud database platforms (AWS, Azure, Oracle OCI). Certification is helpful. Experience on Linux and Windows environments.
Designing and implementing highly resilient and performant Oracle database platforms using distributed technologies.
Domain specialist in Oracle internals, optimizer, statistics management, partition management, physical implementation, and workload management for scalable and resilient platforms.
Expertise in query performance tuning and optimization (PTO), Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid control (OEM 12c), Linux shell scripting, and PL/SQL monitoring job development.
Strong Linux shell scripting experience with solid understanding of Linux performance.
Good understanding of Oracle RAC performance challenges.
Team-oriented with a positive attitude.
Ability to develop and drive database performance standards, methodologies, and initiatives. AWS cloud experience desired.
The Value You Deliver
Perform application database administration (Oracle/Postgres) services, including SQL code review, performance analysis, query tuning, database application design, physical data modeling, development support, and engineering.
Lead proof‑of‑concept efforts to evaluate and enable new technology solutions.
Proactively monitor database servers and respond to alerts.
Design and implement highly resilient, performant Oracle database platforms using distributed technologies.
Provide database development support throughout SDLC; agile experience preferred, including logical and physical data model review, SQL performance, and data injection.
Participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation for production support, maintenance, housekeeping, and installations.
Interface with enterprise teams for Systems Administration, Cyber Security, and Capacity Planning.
Diagnose problems quickly and devise solutions and workarounds.
Manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously with strong time‑management skills.
Self‑motivated with strong team, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Establish database standards for operations, upgrades, migrations, and onboarding new applications and clients.
Write clear, concise, well‑organized technical documentation to maintain standards and procedures.
