Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe Reliable Usable Maintainable and delivered on time.

LCE consists of multiple specialty disciplines that influence the design and architecture of Raytheon products.

Our LCE resources interface directly with program leadership technical leadership and our customers throughout the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation.

Our engineers provide subject matter expertise in the following engineering disciplines : Reliability Availability Maintainability Testability System Safety Human Factors and Supportability.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Principal System Safety Engineerto join us onsite in a closed area with the LCE teamin McKinney TX.

What You Will Do As a Principal System Safety Engineer your responsibilities will include :

An analysis of engineering hardware mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics assessing fault tolerance latent hazards and safety requirements compliance.

Work with system test and tactical operation and maintenance procedures to ensure the proper administrative system safety controls are in place.

Work across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.

Collaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgrounds

Performing System Safety Program or Design analyses

Working with a large system safety program or multiple mid-sized safety programs including :

Monitoring a technical execution program

Interfacing with stakeholders (e.g. customers program offices subcontractors vendors)

Preparing Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for Customer Approval

Briefing safety of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process

Interpreting system requirements customer specifications and military standards

Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program

Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design

Qualifications You Must Have Typically Requires a bachelors degree in Science Technology Engineering or Math (STEM) and minimum of 8 years of relevant Systems Engineering or Safety Engineering experience.

Experience with :

System Safety Engineering Systems Engineering Software or Firmware Engineering Electrical Engineering or equivalent Safety Engineering.

Experience Performing System Safety Program and Design analyses

The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer Experience with DoD System Safety Programs e.g. MIL-STD-882

Experience with DO-178 software verification Experience with system and software safety implementation in Agile Development environment

Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development

Masters Degree in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
