The Plant Manager will oversee all daily operations of the aluminum extrusion facility, ensuring production efficiency, quality standards, employee safety, and cost-effectiveness. This leader will manage production, maintenance, quality, and logistics teams while driving continuous improvement and fostering a culture of operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Direct and coordinate the daily operations of the aluminum extrusion plant, including billet preparation, extrusion presses, fabrication, finishing, and shipping.
Ensure all production schedules are met while maintaining product quality and delivery commitments.
Optimize equipment utilization, reduce downtime, and drive throughput improvements.
Leadership & Team Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop supervisors, operators, and support staff to achieve performance goals.
Foster a safety‑first culture and promote accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning.
Implement training programs for extrusion operations, die changes, and preventive maintenance.
Ensure compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations.
Oversee implementation of safety programs, audits, and corrective actions.
Maintain and improve quality systems to meet ISO and customer specifications.
Continuous Improvement & Cost Control:
Lead Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Kaizen initiatives to improve productivity and reduce waste.
Analyze production data to identify cost‑saving opportunities and process improvements.
Manage budgets, track KPIs, and report on plant performance metrics.
Oversee preventive maintenance programs for extrusion presses, handling systems, and ancillary equipment.
Work with engineering to plan capital improvements and technology upgrades.
Customer & Supply Chain Collaboration:
Coordinate with sales, scheduling, and logistics to ensure customer orders are fulfilled on time.
Manage raw material inventory (billets, dies, packaging) and supplier relationships.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience:
8+ years in manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in aluminum extrusion operations (press operations, die management, or finishing).
Strong knowledge of extrusion press operations, anodizing, powder coating, and fabrication.
Proven track record of leading production teams and achieving operational KPIs.
Experience implementing Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
