PRODUCE/PRIMETIME ASST DEPT LEADER – Smith's Food & Drug Centers – Salt Lake City, Utah.
Job Overview Provide leadership support and direction during primetime hours (3p-7p M-F; 11a-7p Sat/Sun) to drive sales and enhance the customer experience. Partner with the store leader and department leader to develop a high-performance culture where associates are aligned to the business strategy and receive the knowledge and training needed to deliver a consistently great experience for Every Customer, Every Time. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Smith's Food and Drug merged with The Kroger Company in 1998. Responsibilities
Lead and support produce department during primetime hours.
Partner with store and department leaders to develop high-performance culture.
Provide knowledge and training to associates for consistent customer experience.
Ensure orders are put up timely, work backstock, rotate product, replenish throughout the day.
Train and develop associates on job performance; participate in performance appraisal.
Create environment where customers feel welcomed, important, and appreciated; answer product questions, provide suggestions and locate products.
Inform customers of produce specials and offer product samples.
Ensure merchandising standards are followed, review product quality and freshness, take action.
Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management.
Inform and educate associates about current, upcoming, and special in-store promotions.
Ensure in-stock behaviors are executed daily.
Implement period promotional plan for department.
Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, maintain temperature logs.
Reinforce safety programs, identify unsafe conditions, oversee preventive maintenance, report risks.
Perform other essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to handle stressful situations.
Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, subtraction).
Desired
High School Diploma or GED.
Any produce or retail experience.
Any management experience.
Second language proficiency – speaking, reading, and/or writing.
Positive attitude, promote trust and respect among associates.
Teamwork ability; establish performance goals and empower associates.
Ensure orders, backstock, rotating product, replenishing timely.
Train and develop associates; participate in performance appraisal process.
Create welcoming environment for customers, answer questions.
Inform customers of specials, offer samples.
Ensure merchandising standards; review products for quality, freshness.
Create and execute sales promotions with store management.

Plan inventory process, assess conditions, note discrepancies, train associates on inventory/stocking and Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO).
Maintain temperature logs; ensure proper temperatures in case/cooler.
Enforce safety programs; report incidents; practice preventive maintenance.
Adhere to all local, state and federal laws and company guidelines.
Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
