We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join a growing manufacturing organization in Itasca. This role is ideal for a hands‑on finance professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys partnering with operations to drive financial accuracy, efficiency, and insight. The Assistant Controller will oversee day‑to‑day accounting activities, lead the month‑end close, and provide meaningful analysis to support business performance.
Key Responsibilities
Mentor and develop accounting staff , fostering a culture of accuracy, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Lead all aspects of
general ledger accounting , including month‑end close, reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements in accordance with
U.S. GAAP
Oversee the
consolidation
of multiple business units and ensure accuracy of intercompany transactions and eliminations
Manage daily accounting functions, including
accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and fixed assets , ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies
Partner closely with
manufacturing and operations teams
to analyze job costing, inventory valuation, and product margin performance
Prepare and review
journal entries, accruals, and variance analyses ; identify key trends and recommend corrective or process improvements
Support
annual budget
development and
quarterly forecasts ; maintain financial models to guide decision‑making and improve visibility into business performance
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in
Accounting or Finance
required;
CPA
strongly preferred
5–8 years of progressive accounting experience , ideally in a manufacturing or distribution environment
Strong working knowledge of
U.S. GAAP ,
cost accounting , and financial reporting best practices
Advanced proficiency in
Microsoft Excel
and experience with ERP systems
Proven analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and present actionable insights
