Controller
to join their team. The ideal candidate will have construction accounting experience, a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and 3+ years of controller experience. The
Controller
role is an onsite position. This is a client direct hire position. Oversee accounting operations for multiple company entities, including accounts receivable/payable, payroll, and general ledger management. Prepare and review monthly consolidated financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP. Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entry adjustments, intercompany eliminations, and account reconciliations. Ensure compliance with lender, factoring, and covenant reporting requirements. Develop and enhance processes for job costing, work-in-progress schedules, and percentage-of-completion accounting aligned with industry best practices. Controls & Compliance
Establish and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures across all business units. Ensure adherence to accounting standards such as ASC 805 (business combinations) and ASC 842 (leases). Oversee tax filings (sales/use tax, property tax, and information returns) and support external audits and financial reviews. Collaborate with executive leadership to maintain compliance with lender and investor reporting obligations. Systems & Integration
Lead efforts alongside operations to select, implement, and roll out a new ERP/job-costing system, replacing legacy accounting tools. Oversee data migration and integration from legacy systems, ensuring accuracy and consistency. Work closely with operations and project teams to ensure precise cost tracking, billing, and forecasting. Experience with construction or project-focused ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Viewpoint Vista, Sage 300 CRE, Foundation, CMiC, or similar) is highly preferred. Drive initiatives to automate processes, improve consistency, and increase data transparency across departments. Supervise accounting and administrative personnel, including accounts payable, payroll, and field administrative support. Provide training and mentorship to team members to promote accuracy, consistency, and accountability in all accounting functions. Collaborate with operations, project management, and estimating teams to align field and financial data. Partner with senior leadership to deliver timely insights on financial performance and business trends. A collaborative and personable team player—strong cultural fit is just as important as technical expertise. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or similar financial leadership role. Deep knowledge of industry-specific accounting practices, including job costing, work-in-progress (WIP), and percentage-of-completion accounting. Demonstrated success in leading ERP system selection or implementation projects. Experience managing financial consolidations across multiple entities and supporting acquisition-related accounting. Advanced skills with QuickBooks Desktop/Enterprise and Microsoft Excel. Strong organizational abilities combined with effective leadership and clear communication skills.
