This position is the most senior role within the business‑data analyst job family and is responsible for partnering with senior business leaders to provide consultancy to envision and execute strategic business initiatives. The role translates these initiatives into the design and delivery of business intelligence solutions, and formulates viable options for key business decisions.
This role is characterized as delivering consultancy and leading the delivery of business intelligence solutions to business areas. It requires an expert knowledge of business areas, well‑developed consultancy skills, and mastery of the technical elements of the data analytics maturity curve from descriptive analytics to diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics. The successful candidate will independently consult with senior business leaders, coordinate data professionals, provide counsel to business decisions, and self‑originate analytical solutions.
Responsibilities
Consult with senior business leaders to understand strategic initiatives, including related business problems and the intent of proposed solutions. Identify key data points and analytical approaches that will quantitatively demonstrate solution value.
Develop and deliver rich and actionable statistical analysis to bring insights to the leadership team.
Support data analysts in modeling and advanced analytics by providing technical direction, analytical coaching, and inspection of their work.
Lead the ongoing development of BLI’s data and analytical capabilities by sourcing, developing, delivering content, and mentoring analysts.
Design and build management‑information solutions, including ad hoc data‑and‑analysis requests, recurring management‑information reports, high‑complexity business‑intelligence dashboards, and visualizations (using Power BI, Tableau, or others).
Develop forecasts, predictive modeling, and prescriptive analytics to inform and participate in scenario‑planning with business leaders for key objectives. Document, test, validate, and maintain models in concert with AUB data‑and‑modeling governance policies.
Prepare original descriptive and diagnostic analysis and visualizations in response to observed business trends and stakeholder interests. Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and effective manner.
Position Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline (applied mathematics/statistics, data analytics, finance/economics, computer science, management information systems, business administration, or related field).
Minimum 5 years of professional data‑and‑analytics experience in a provider‑to‑business leader working relationship.
Minimum 5 years of progressive mastery providing the full gamut of descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics to business leaders.
Knowledge & Skills
Exceptional knowledge of technologies, techniques, and practices for evaluating business performance data, value analysis, and reporting for sales or business activity.
Strong strategic and analytical thinking, oral and written communication (including presentation skills), results orientation, and consultation skills.
Proven ability to lead multiple priorities given specific timelines in a fast‑paced, dynamic, and ambiguous business environment.
Highly skilled in SQL or similar tools for data‑informed business situations. Expert knowledge of databases and data‑management practices.
Creator/Power User expertise in Tableau or Power BI, with aptitude to master both tools.
Proficient in typical desktop applications used in this role: Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Visio, Jira, and others.
