Job Description
Represent clients as lead in depositions, court hearings, mediations, and other legal proceedings; serve as lead counsel in smaller arbitrations and trials; act as second chair or co-lead in larger arbitrations and trials.
Handle complex commercial litigation cases involving issues such as breach of contract, corporate governance, intellectual property disputes, mergers and acquisitions, securities law, and antitrust matters.
Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to identify relevant laws, precedents, and best practices; apply legal principles to provide solutions to clients' problems.
Prepare legal pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery documents, and other required filings; ensure all documents comply with relevant laws and regulations.
Provide ongoing legal advice to corporate clients on risk management, compliance, and strategic decisions related to litigation; guide clients on matters like dispute resolution, mergers, and acquisitions.
Engage in settlement negotiations on behalf of clients, aiming to resolve disputes favorably without going to trial when possible.
Work closely with other attorneys, legal staff, and corporate clients to develop litigation strategies; collaborate with expert witnesses, consultants, and other professionals as necessary.
Oversee all aspects of litigation, including pre-trial motions, discovery, witness preparation, trial, and post-trial procedures.
Maintain accurate records of all client work; track billable hours; ensure timely and accurate invoicing.
Experience you will need
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Active bar membership in the state of Texas, in good standing.
2-4 years of experience in commercial litigation.
Experience handling depositions and in-court advocacy at hearings.
Some experience handling evidentiary and legal arguments as well as direct and cross‑examination of witnesses at trial.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to handle complex legal issues with precision and professionalism.
High level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Proficient in legal research tools and litigation software.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience with trial preparation and presentation and with managing high‑stakes litigation.
Proven ability to lead and mentor junior attorneys and legal staff.
