Physician- Medical Director- Geriatrics and Extended Care Pay Range:

$250,000.00 – $335,000.00 per year (base).

Qualifications

United States citizenship or eligible to be appointed under VA policy.

Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an approved VA school.

Full, unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.

Residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs leading to board certification in an accredited core specialty program.

Board certification in Geriatrics and Palliative Care preferred. Current hospice and palliative care experience 3–5 years preferred.

Current supervisory experience as Section Chief in VA (minimum 6–12 months).

Experience managing veterans in inpatient hospice units for 6–12 months.

Experience working with hospitalists and conducting inpatient hospice and palliative care consultations.

Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Ability to pass a pre‑employment physical examination required by VA Handbook 5019.

Physical requirements: light to moderate lifting (15–44 lbs), carrying (≤15 lbs), reaching above shoulder, use of fingers and both hands, walking, standing, kneeling, rapid mental and muscular coordination, near and far vision (13–16” near, 20/20–20/40 far), depth perception, color discrimination, hearing (aid permissible), emotional and mental stability, working closely with others and independently.

Duties

Dedicate 30–70% of time daily to ensuring high‑quality operations of the Home‑Based Primary Care (HBPC) program.

Lead program management, quality assurance, performance improvement, and other assigned duties.

Manage a small panel of HBPC veterans and serve in rotation for other clinical assignments within GEC as scheduled.

Serve as a member of the GEC Leaders Group, chair HBPC steering committee, and participate in monthly meetings.

Supervise and evaluate HBPC clinical providers, provide training and mentorship, and maintain clinical oversight.

Assist in program development, strategic planning, policy review, and deployment of quality improvement initiatives.

Maintain licensure and certifications required by the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System.

Perform on‑call rotations evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary with annual performance bonus. Regular salary increases. 50–55 days paid time off per year (including annual leave, sick leave, federal holidays, and CME absence).
