What To Expect The Drive Systems team is seeking a Product Engineer to take ownership of Tesla’s current and next-generation drive units. You will combine deep technical understanding with strong execution to improve performance, cost, and reliability across Tesla’s global fleet. You will lead sustaining efforts for high-volume production, solving complex design and manufacturing challenges at scale. You will also play a key role in launching new programs that drive design maturity, validate hardware, and ensure readiness across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain. This role sits at the intersection of design, validation, and production. You’ll collaborate with vehicle, power electronics, and manufacturing teams to deliver drive systems that push the limits of efficiency, durability, and scalability. What You’ll Do

Define and drive the industrialization of drive unit manufacturing processes across prototype, pilot, and volume phases.

Establish production testing specifications ensuring feasibility, scalability, and alignment with long-term reliability goals.

Act as first-line escalation for production concerns, supplier quality issues, and service feedback; coordinate with global teams for rapid resolution.

Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to perform DFx, PFMEA, and PPAP activities optimizing design and manufacturing readiness.

Drive continuous improvement through DFM, cost reduction, and second sourcing while maintaining performance and reliability standards.

Lead validation and durability testing to qualify design changes, supplier transitions, and cost-down initiatives.

Sustain production drive units through EBOM, CAD, and change control management while resolving supplier, service, and production issues.

Develop and promote CAD, drawing, and part management best practices while introducing new tools and processes to improve product and sustaining efficiency.

What You’ll Bring

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience.

5+ years in sustaining and launching complex electro-mechanical systems, ideally in EV powertrains.

Experience with supplier validation, design change management, and sustaining production.

Strong understanding of CAD/PLM, GD&T, DFMEA/PFMEA, FEA, and SPC.

Expertise in CAD and drawing best practices; CATIA preferred.

Organized, detail-oriented, and skilled in cross‑functional communication.

Expected Compensation: $106,400 – $159,600 annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits.
