Director Government Affairs (Government, Community & Economic Partnerships) role at Inside Higher Ed. The Office of Government, Community, and Economic Partnerships is seeking a Director of Government Affairs to manage the Maryland government relations portfolio, focusing on higher education, healthcare, research, workforce development, and economic innovation. The Director will lead a team of Maryland lobbyists who interact with government officials and policymakers on legislative, regulatory, and other matters representing the institution's priorities. This position reports to the Vice President of Government, Community, and Economic Partnerships. Responsibilities

Coordinate and enhance visibility of Johns Hopkins' state affairs activities, both internally and externally. Identify relevant state government issues and trends likely to affect Johns Hopkins Institutions. Lead State Affairs Team efforts to address and respond to those issues and keep the senior administration fully appraised of these trends. Build and maintain relationships between Johns Hopkins and state government officials. Attend meetings of trade associations and others that monitor and gauge the impact of proposed legislation on research universities and academic medical centers. Represent the Johns Hopkins perspective to policy makers and within trade associations and assist in formulating strategies for the coalition to respond to issues impacting the institution. Develop a proactive and responsive legislative and regulatory strategy to advance the interests of the institution. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree in law or related field. Four years of experience in Annapolis in the executive or legislative branches, or five years record of achievement in government affairs operations and lobbying. Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. Preferred Qualifications

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins University's salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will depend on factors including geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, education/training and other qualifications.
