Industrial Water/Wastewater Project Manager
CDM Smith has an opportunity for a Senior Project Manager with experience managing industrial water and/or wastewater projects to join our Industrial Business unit. The role serves as the main point of contact for planning and design of water, reuse, and wastewater projects and supports business development throughout the United States. Clients span multiple sectors including High Tech, Data Centers, Chemicals, Rubber & Plastics, Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, Food & Beverage, Mining, and Manufacturing.
This position is hybrid with a minimum of two days in the office and can be based at any of our industrial offices in the United States.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage water/wastewater projects, serving as the primary project manager.
Provide technical guidance, senior leadership, and mentoring to engineering staff to enhance our water/wastewater design capabilities.
Define scope, schedule, and budget; monitor project progress and ensure adherence.
Perform quality assurance/quality control of key deliverables and assist with projects managed by others in the office.
Assist Client Service Leaders with technical marketing for clients across the U.S.
Participate in professional societies relevant to the industry.
Build and maintain positive working relationships with key decision makers in clients’ organizations.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
10 years of related experience.
PMP (PMI), CCM, or DBIA certification required within 12 months of hire.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional engineering (PE) license, strongly preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering, or related field.
Prior experience managing projects for industrial water/water reuse/wastewater clients.
Experience managing multi‑discipline project teams.
Excellent communication, networking, and team‑building skills.
Direct client experience.
Master’s degree.
Business development experience, including proposal preparation, scope of work, and cost estimation for industrial clients.
