Assistant to the Controller/Senior Accountant

Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting the Controller with all aspects of the accounting and financial reporting process. This individual will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and assisting in the preparation of corporate tax returns. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Controller with daily accounting operations and month-end/year-end close processes
Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
Support preparation of consolidated financial statements and management reports
Assist with preparation and filing of corporate tax returns and coordination with external tax advisors
Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and accounting standards
Analyze general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies
Participate in audits, budget preparation, and financial planning processes
Support special projects, process improvements, and systems upgrades as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
(CPA or CPA-track preferred)
5–8 years of progressive accounting experience , ideally in construction, engineering, or related services industries
Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles
Experience with tax preparation and filings (corporate and/or partnership)
Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, or similar) and strong Excel skills
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
Competitive base salary of $85-95k
