The Staff Accountant II will report to the Assistant Corporate Controller. This role will be based in our corporate office located in Katy, Texas. The candidate’s responsibilities will include various general accounting duties supporting the Corporate Accounting Team.
Essential Job Functions:
Prepare adjusting and accrual entries in accordance with established Company policies.
Prepare bank account reconciliations. Resolve discrepancies with other departments as needed.
Prepare accruals and payments for customer rebates and distributor commissions.
Support recording and maintaining Fixed Asset records.
Perform reconciliations supplying appropriate support and ensuring adjustments required are resolved in a timely manner.
Variance analysis.
Prepare and upload manual and automated accounting entries to JDE as needed.
Prepare schedules and other required support as required for management and external audits.
Prepare quarterly Balance Sheet variance analysis for assigned accounts.
Record, maintain and document Fixed Assets.
Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
Bachelors' Degree required
3+ years of relevant financial and general accounting experience showing consistent career progression and expertise
Basic understanding and application of GAAP and SOX requirements
Ability to manage critical deadlines and adapt and prioritize in a dynamic work environment
Effectively create and maintain spreadsheets without error, and critically analyze data to identify and explain variances
Highly detail oriented, maintaining comprehensive documentation to support financial statements
Ability to coordinate work across functions and with third parties such as external auditors
Ability to communicate effectively through clear and concise expression of concepts both in writing and verbally to all levels of the organization
Creative problem-solving and ability to think outside the box to help solve problems and identify process improvements
Self-motivated, critical thinker while coachable and a team player
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
JD Edwards ERP Systems knowledge or applicable ERP system knowledge
Oracle ARCS system experience
CPA License (or actively pursuing CPA certificate with parts passed)
