Design Training That Powers Defence Capability

The Role As a Training Specialist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is a dynamic role ideal for experienced training analysts or those with domain expertise in Mission Systems (e.g., ISR, EW, UAS, communications, networks) looking to transition into the training line of business.

Day-to-day, you’ll apply instructional design principles and project management skills to create and evaluate training programmes aligned with the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT). You’ll collaborate with subject matter experts, military personnel, and technical teams to ensure training is effective, engaging and mission ready.

Conduct DSAT (JSP822 compliant) activities including Training Needs Analysis and course design

Collaborate with system designers and stakeholders to align training with equipment support solutions

Represent training in customer working groups and maintain project documentation

Design blended learning solutions including eLearning, instructor-led and performance support

Evaluate training effectiveness and implement improvements

This role is full time 37 hours per week and requires regular travel across a range of internal and customer sites on a weekly / monthly basis alongside home working arrangements.

Essential Experience

Practical knowledge of DSAT (JSP822), ADDIE or SAM methodologies

Ability to manage training projects from concept to delivery using basic project management principles

Experience collaborating with Defence clients and internal teams to identify training needs

Proven ability to create and maintain engaging training materials and comprehensive reports

Strong analytical skills with experience applying evaluation models (e.g., Kirkpatrick) to drive learning impact

Qualifications

Relevant qualifications (e.g., teaching, engineering, Level 6+ domain expertise) or equivalent experience demonstrating strong facilitation and learner engagement capabilities.
