Base pay range $123,077.00/yr - $315,000.00/yr
Summary This position is eligible for Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval – award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Qualifications
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy
Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree in medicine or osteopathic medicine from a VA-approved school
Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
Residency Training: Complete an accredited core specialty training program leading to board certification as approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs
PRPs: Physicians currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency training who meet basic requirements may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs). PRPs must hold a full license, may work on an intermittent or fee basis, and are not independent practitioners but have a scope of practice for certain supervised duties.
Proficiency in spoken and written English
Preferred Experience: Previous VA experience or employment is desired
Physical Requirements: Applicants must be physically and mentally able to perform essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation, without hazard to themselves or others
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage chronic conditions and evaluate and treat intercurrent medical conditions
Determine medical assessment and develop treatment plans according to accepted protocols
Collaborate with a Patient Aligned Care Team to provide accessible, comprehensive, coordinated, continuous care to an assigned panel of patients
Provide comprehensive gender‑specific care for female veterans as a Women's Health PCP, including age‑appropriate cervical and breast cancer screening, menopause and contraceptive management, and initial evaluation of basic gynecological concerns
Perform disease‑prevention activities and health promotion, including gender and age‑specific screenings, mental health screenings, and referrals for mental health disorders
Provide Buprenorphine treatment for opioid use disorder per DEA guidance
Supervise or collaborate with primary‑care mid‑level providers and act as a surrogate for absent primary‑care providers when needed (e.g., reviewing CPRS alerts)
Attend primary‑care staff meetings, departmental meetings, and medical staff meetings in a timely manner
Complete timely documentation (notes and encounter forms) and all administrative work per facility policy
Address clinical reminders as medically appropriate and meet quality‑of‑care standards
Use all virtual‑care modalities as expected
Prescribe medication per approved formulary and federal/state law
Consult other specialties as appropriate under established service agreements
Demonstrate flexibility in responding to clinic demands while meeting professional obligations
Perform other duties as assigned
Work schedule: Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (subject to change based on facility needs)
