Neuro‑Ophthalmology Physician .
Qualifications The successful candidate must demonstrate strong interest and prior commitment to clinical and/or basic science research.
Board certification and fellowship training in neuro‑ophthalmology, and eligibility for licensing in Illinois, is expected.
Clinical Duties The Neuro‑ophthalmology service is housed in the Division of Headache and Neuro‑Ophthalmology within the Department of Neurological Sciences. Duties include clinical practice as well as the education of residents and medical students. Clinical duties are focused on outpatient care, with shared coverage of inpatient neuro‑ophthalmology consultation.
There are dedicated outpatient clinic rooms for neuro‑ophthalmologic practice with on‑site Humphrey Visual Field and OCT machine within the Neurology clinic space. The service works in close partnership with the Department of Ophthalmology and the Rush Eye Center, providing opportunities for ophthalmology resident teaching and shared conferences. Further inpatient clinical opportunities are available as well as blended practice models integrating additional subspecialty interests such as headache, neuro‑immunology, or stroke.
Education and Research Opportunities Clinicians have faculty appointments and can engage in clinical, basic science, and community‑based research. The department supports career development with opportunities to explore interests as a clinician‑educator or in research collaborations.
Compensation and Benefits Pay Range: $250,000 – $360,000.
Rush offers competitive total compensation, including base pay, benefits, and incentive programs. Opportunities for increased compensation based on exceeding productivity targets, as well as sign‑on and retention bonuses and relocation allowances, may be available.
