It takes hundreds of tactical aircraft to carry out our missions, including attack planes, fighters and strike fighters. As a Tactical Aircraft Maintenance specialist, you work with aircrew to ensure every part of these fine-tuned machines are maintained to meet the highest standards. In doing so, you’ll keep our aircraft and Airmen ready to withstand disasters, respond to emergencies and take down threats at a moment’s notice.
Primary Responsibilities
Perform scheduled inspections, functional checks and preventive maintenance on tactical aircraft and aircraft-installed equipment.
Preflight: inspect and perform various functional checks of the aircraft as well as ensure that the aircraft has been properly serviced with fuel, hydraulic fluid and liquid oxygen.
Postflight: ensure the aircraft is still in “operationally ready” condition.
Perform general mechanical work as opposed to working on a particular system or subsystem.

Qualifications
HS diploma or GED
Completion of high school courses in physics, pneudraulics and electronics is desirable.
ASVAB score of 47 on Mechanical
Eligibility for top-secret security clearance
8.5 weeks of Basic Military Training (BMT) at JB San Antonio-Lackland, TX, followed by Technical Training
