Title: Director of Technical Pre‑Sales Support – PV & BESS

Hanwha Qcells USA Corp (Qcells USA) specializes in providing utility‑scale solar photovoltaic (PV) modules and battery energy storage systems (BESS) with complete turnkey solutions, including Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services. Qcells USA delivers projects from development through execution, leveraging an integrated development, module, and EPC team.

About the Role The Director of Technical Pre‑Sales Support will serve as the key technical interface between Qcells' commercial organization and its utility‑scale customers. Responsible for translating complex customer requirements into commercially viable, technically optimized solutions, the role supports the pursuit of new EPC and equipment‑only opportunities across PV and BESS segments.

Responsibilities

Serve as technical lead for customer‑facing sales support across PV and BESS EPC and equipment‑only opportunities.

Develop system configurations, single‑line diagrams, layout concepts, and technical proposal content for utility‑scale BESS and solar PV projects.

Provide technical responses to RFPs, RFIs, and due diligence requests in coordination with sales and proposal/estimation teams.

Support the development of BESS sizing models, energy dispatch strategies, and performance analyses tailored to customer use cases and interconnection requirements.

Collaborate with product and engineering teams to align customer needs with appropriate technical solutions, ensuring competitiveness and feasibility.

Analyze customer requirements and grid interconnection parameters to inform optimal system architecture and commercial strategies.

Lead technical presentations and customer meetings to communicate Qcells’ capabilities and value proposition.

Monitor key regulatory, code, and standard developments (e.g., UL 9540A, NFPA 855) impacting PV and BESS system design.

Support hand‑off to execution teams by ensuring continuity of technical documentation and customer expectations.

Participate in internal process improvements and tool development initiatives to enhance technical sales effectiveness.

Attain regular attendance in accordance with company policy and supervisory assignment.

Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (Master’s preferred).

Minimum 7–10 years of experience in utility‑scale renewable energy systems, with at least 2 years focused on BESS project support or design.

Proficient understanding of BESS system components (battery racks, PCS, BMS, EMS) and relevant integration and control strategies.

Familiarity with PV system design and performance tools (e.g., Helioscope, PVSyst, AutoCAD); knowledge of HOMER, ETAP, or similar is a plus.

Ability to interpret interconnection requirements, customer specifications, and performance guarantees into actionable design criteria.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with capacity to distill complex technical concepts for executive‑level and customer‑facing discussions.

Collaborative, solutions‑oriented mindset with strong attention to detail.

Experience working within cross‑functional environments including sales, engineering, and construction teams.

Familiarity with NEC, IEEE, UL, and NFPA codes relevant to solar and BESS projects.
