Location: San Francisco, Hybrid (In Office Tuesday - Thursday + more as needed) Hey there! We value a team that works hard while staying true to our roots and having fun. Job Description As a Technical Designer, you will play a vital role in the 3D creation of our garments. Your focus will be on translating the design team\'s vision into exceptional Marine Layer products while ensuring our fit consistency and quality standards are upheld. You will bring support, organization, and a collaborative spirit to our technical design team, contributing to our ongoing assortment growth. Scope Prepare for fittings by gathering and organizing samples, measuring garment specifications, and ensuring designer access to necessary information. Take meticulous notes during the fitting process to provide valuable insights for the design team. Support fitting preparation and collaborate in meetings to assess samples for fit, specifications, construction, pattern shaping, and functionality. Manage the organization of samples efficiently to facilitate a smooth workflow within our fast-paced environment. Review shipment samples to verify adherence to our quality targets and garment specifications. Lead quality control reviews, becoming a trusted resource within the team. Oversee the development of block patterns and spec library to achieve a consistent fit for the denim and bottoms product categories, carrying out seasonal product reviews. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in technical fashion design or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of relevant denim and bottoms technical design experience. Ideally experienced in both women’s and men’s but women’s experience required. Proficiency in pattern-making, Gerber and/or CLO, and experience with PLM software. Strong knowledge of garment construction, bottoms fabrics, denim & garment washes, and production processes. Exceptional sketching abilities and tech pack creation skills. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Ability to effectively multitask and adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with a flexible approach to job responsibilities. An energetic, positive attitude and a genuine passion for technical apparel design. Demonstrated ability to build fit from the ground up (no block library) and iterate across multiple styles. Fantastic Communication Skills You possess the ability to communicate clearly both externally with factories (domestic and international) and internally with cross-functional teams. Your organizational skills and accountability, combined with excellent verbal and written communication capabilities, make you an effective collaborator. Obsessive Attention to Detail You understand the significance of the little things that contribute to creating remarkable products.
