Technical Designer
We are seeking a Technical Designer with excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative team player. The role requires a strong understanding of garment construction, measurement specifications, and proficiency in creating tech packs and fit samples.
Responsibilities
Excellent understanding of garment construction from measurement to specification for tops, bottoms, and activewear.
Ability to perform spec measurements on both knit and woven garments accurately.
Lead fittings in an organized and efficient manner, giving crucial fit recommendations based on spec measurements and comparing quality of fit samples to the original design.
Maintain fit sample library, logging and upkeep using a specific coding system.
Create tech packs, including technical sketches, sewing details, measurements, initial and final graded specs, BOM with appropriate coding, and associated files.
Assist with fit sessions and fit comments, providing factory instructions and responding to factory emails.
Collaborate with design artists to create placement instructions for artwork, screen prints, embroidery, sequins, patches, etc.
Provide care label instruction recommendations based on the product, and create care label layouts.
Work in conjunction with design and production to achieve these objectives.
Other duties may include other office duties as needed, including shipping, logging samples and fabric submissions, and creating guides such as “How to Measure” and “Label and Packing Guide.”
Qualifications
Strong experience in garment construction, measurement, and fit.
Experienced with tech pack creation and database management.
Excellent communication skills, ability to give factory instructions and respond to factory emails.
Good eye for proportion and placement instructions for accessories.
Knowledge of fabrications and care label recommendations.
Organized, meticulous, and sense of urgency.
