Volunteer & Community Engagement Specialist Mission Action, a non‑profit organization with a mission to nurture individual wellness and create a more just society by engaging low‑income and immigrant communities.

Compensation:

Position Overview The **Volunteer & Community Engagement Coordinator** develops and supports the volunteer and community engagement structure for the Rapid Response Hotline. The role requires excellent communication, volunteer coordination and training, community organizing experience, strong collaboration, organizational skills, and fluency in Spanish (preferred).

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Outreach

Identify and develop volunteer opportunities.

Build strategic recruitment channels with community organizations, nonprofits, faith partners, and other stakeholders.

Conduct screenings and brief conversations to ensure volunteer fit.

Onboarding & Training

Develop and deliver orientation programs.

Provide training materials and ensure volunteers are equipped for tasks such as documentation and verification.

Maintain volunteer platforms and databases.

Scheduling & Coordination

Manage volunteer schedules and coordinate logistics for activities.

Communicate updates to ensure smooth execution of volunteer programs.

Volunteer Placement & Recognition

Keep volunteers informed on political and immigration developments.

Implement recognition programs to celebrate contributions.

Data Management

Maintain accurate records, track participation and hours, and generate impact reports.

Relationship Building & Leadership Development

Cultivate relationships with volunteers, community leaders, and partner organizations.

Identify volunteer leaders and provide growth opportunities.

Community & Media Relations

Content Creation & Social Media – produce content for social media, blogs, and informational materials.

Media & Public Relations – manage inquiries, draft press releases, coordinate interviews.

Community Engagement & Data Analysis – track metrics, analyze outreach effectiveness.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communications, social sciences, nonprofit management, or equivalent experience.

Experience in volunteer coordination, community organizing, or training.

Strong interpersonal and relationship‑building skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word).

Familiarity with volunteer management software and databases is a plus.

Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.

Spanish language proficiency (preferred).
