Overview The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as the senior financial executive of the MEDC/MSF, overseeing all financial and budget operations, including strategic financial planning, accounting services, billing, financial analysis, financial operations, reporting, and budget development. The CFO is a key member of the executive leadership team and provides direct counsel to the CEO and Executive Committee on financial strategy, long-term fiscal sustainability, risk management, and resource allocation to advance the organization’s mission and statutory objectives.

This position is based at MEDC Headquarters in Lansing and may work a hybrid (remote/in-office) schedule. Selected candidates who have been approved to work a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.

Minimum Education and Experience Minimum Education:

Possession of a bachelor’s degree in the areas of finance, accounting, economics, management, public administration or public policy. Possession of a master’s degree is strongly preferred.

Minimum Experience:

Twelve years of progressively responsible financial management, including 3 years of experience in a senior leadership role, with familiarity or experience in governmental, quasi-governmental, or public financial management; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Prefer experience preparing and presenting financial reports to oversight agencies, legislative committees, or external auditors. Strong familiarity with GASB standards and state financial management systems. Experience aligning fiscal management with strategic plans or performance frameworks.
