Arclin USA is currently seeking a Plant Engineering Manager for its Portland, OR location. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the role is responsible for the specifications and design of plant facilities, controls, and equipment for the Arclin Production Facilities, achieving desired results cost‑efficiently while enhancing environment, safety, quality, and long‑term profitability.
Description Salary Range: $110K - $145K.
Responsibilities
The Plant Engineering Manager is the owner and accountable for all plant assets; responsible for controlling, tracking, and reporting spending of the capital budget and maintenance.
Functions as a project manager for capital projects.
Communicates with internal and external customers to ensure project plans and work in progress meet desired outcomes.
Confers with vendors to determine product specifications, assess supplier capabilities, and arrange purchase of equipment, materials, or parts; evaluates products per specifications and quality standards.
Directly supervises all maintenance resources.
Analyzes and plans maintenance workforce utilization, predictive/preventative maintenance, space requirements, workflow, and design layout of equipment/workspace for maximum efficiency.
Provides technical advice on plant operations and improvements; prepares engineering analysis of projects including preliminary design, detailed design, project cost analysis, life cycle cost, and equipment selection.
Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing controls and automation utilizing knowledge of instrumentation, controls & automation, product design, materials, chemicals, and production equipment capabilities.
Leverages engineering controls to eliminate ergonomic hazards.
Leverages engineering controls to institutionalize consistencies in production.
Requirements
B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
5+ years plant maintenance/engineering/project engineering experience in chemical or paper manufacturing.
Exposure to Programmable Logic Control, distributive process controls (DeltaV), HMI, and automation control systems.
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated record of leadership, teamwork, adaptability, innovation, and initiative.
Ability to work well with all levels of personnel throughout the facility and the company.
Experience in executing TPM (Total Productive Maintenance).
Engineer in Training Certification or Professional Engineer.
Preferred
Experience in Six Sigma, Lean, 5S.
Registered as a Professional Engineer.
Experience with PSM program implementation.
Knowledge of AB RS Logix 5/500/5000, Control Logix, Powerflex drive, HMI/SCADA, I‑Fix, ParcView, and DeltaV Batch.
Ability to operate safely in a manufacturing environment (lifting up to 20 lbs, standing, bending, crouching, rotating, climbing stairs).
