Associate General Counsel

At Bounce, we are seeking an Associate General Counsel with an interest in financial technology and consumer financial services to join our legal team. This role will involve supporting our General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer in our New York, NY office and offering exposure to a variety of matters ranging from regulatory compliance to litigation and corporate counsel.

How You’ll Spend Your Time
Partner with product, engineering, and operations teams to provide legal guidance on design and new business initiatives, serving as both guardian of legal risks and innovation facilitator.
Manage a caseload of defense litigation cases and outside counsel, overseeing litigation strategy for consumer claims, regulatory enforcement actions, and commercial matters.
Spot issues and apply legal standards to internal/proprietary machine learning and associated business lines, with emphasis on federal and state data protection and privacy standards.
Advise the company on compliance with applicable federal and state laws, such as FDCPA, FCRA, TCPA, TILA, state privacy laws, and others.
Assist with corporate governance and support on fiduciary duties and risk exposure.
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements and litigation‑related documents.
Develop and implement legal policies and procedures that align with business objectives and ensure regulatory compliance.
Requirements
Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA‑accredited law school.
Bar Status: Admitted or admission pending and in good standing with the NY Bar.
Recent law school graduates are encouraged to apply (must be admitted or admission pending).
Experience And Skills
Minimum 1 year of experience or related coursework in the consumer financial services or financial technology industry.
Attention to detail and skill in spotting nuanced issues and potential risks.
Highly organized, self‑motivated, and capable of working in a fast‑paced team environment.
Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Adaptability to change and ability to handle diverse, confidential legal issues.
Effective negotiation and advocacy skills.
Strong desire to learn and grow as an attorney in a highly regulated, dynamic industry.
