We are seeking an
Associate General Counsel
with an interest in financial technology and consumer financial services to join our legal team. In this role, you will work closely with and support our General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer in our New York, NY office. This is an excellent opportunity for a new law school graduate (admitted or admission pending) or an associate level attorney with experience in consumer financial services to gain exposure to a variety of related matters. This role will offer support on issues ranging from dynamic regulatory compliance to managing litigation and providing corporate legal counsel to the business. About Us

Partner with product and engineering teams and operations, including providing legal guidance on design and new business initiatives, as both guardian of legal risks and innovation facilitator. Manage a caseload of defense litigation cases and outside counsel, overseeing litigation strategy, including consumer claims, regulatory enforcement actions, and commercial matters. Issue spotting, and corresponding application of legal standards to internal/proprietary machine learning and associated business lines with emphasis on federal and state data protection and privacy standards. Advise the company on compliance with applicable federal and state laws, such as the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Truth in Lending Act (TILA), state privacy laws, etc. Assist with corporate governance and support on fiduciary duties and risk exposure. Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents, including commercial agreements and litigation matters. Policy development: Help develop and implement legal policies and procedures that align with business objectives and ensure regulatory compliance. Requirements
Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school. Bar Status: Admitted or admission pending and in good standing with the NY Bar. Recent law school graduates are encouraged to apply (must be admitted or admission pending). Experience and Skills Minimum 1 year of experience working or related course work within the consumer financial services or financial technology industry is required. Attention to detail, with particular attention to nuanced issue spotting for ambiguities and potential risks. Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of working in a fast paced team environment. Professional level written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Adaptability to change, able to handle diverse and confidential legal issues. Ability to effectively negotiate and advocate on behalf of the company. Strong desire to learn and grow as an attorney in a highly regulated and dynamic industry. What We Offer
